Mayflower Bocawina National Park

Mayflower Bocawina National Park covers more than 7,000 acres of tropical rainforest in the Stann Creek District of southern Belize. The park protects three Mayan archaeological sites, five waterfalls, and some of the most intact lowland forest remaining in Central America. It is managed by the Belize Audubon Society.

The main draw for most visitors is the waterfall system. Antelope Falls is the tallest, dropping around 30 metres into a clear pool at the base. The trail takes about 45 minutes through dense jungle, crossing streams and climbing steadily through the canopy. Bocawina Falls and Tears of the Jaguar are shorter hikes and good options for families or those with less time.

The park is also one of the better places in Belize to spot wildlife. Howler monkeys are common along the trails in the early morning. Toucans, parrots, and keel-billed motmots are regularly seen in the canopy. A zip-line and rappelling operation runs from the park entrance, with lines that cross above the forest and end near the waterfall pools.
